CEREC is one of the most versatile and innovative pieces of equipment in dentistry. Now you can say goodbye to temporary crowns with the CEREC machine.

Only 48% of Australians over the age of 15 saw their dentist between 2020 and 2021. Despite common knowledge about the importance of dental hygiene, it seems that many still lack care. But we know it shouldn’t be this way. That’s why we’re here to put it straight!

If you’re suffering from damaged teeth, you might need a crown. But have you heard of a CEREC machine? This new and improved technology fits your crown while helping you achieve the perfect smile you’ve always wanted.

Want to know more about CEREC dentistry and all of the benefits it brings? We’ve got you covered! But first, let’s look at what a dental crown is and when you might need one.

What is a Dental Crown?

A dental crown is a small cap that fits the shape of your tooth and is added when you’re tooth’s become:

  • Discoloured
  • Broken
  • Cracked and chipped
  • Damaged or worn

The purpose of a crown is to help your teeth regain their shape, size, and structure so that they look normal again. Crowns can help cover a dental implant or bridge also, giving your teeth a fresh appearance.

While a crown is commonly made from either porcelain, metal, or resin, a CEREC crown tends to offer one that’s ceramic. This allows your teeth to experience a more natural feel and look that’s as good as new.

What Is a CEREC Machine?

What sets CEREC crowns apart from traditionally fitted crowns is the new and advanced machinery that’s used.

A CEREC machine offers cutting-edge technology that enables effective dental crown treatment in just one sitting. General methods used for dental crowns typically take up to two weeks for completion, therefore making CEREC much quicker and more efficient.

At TLC Dental, we fit your dental crown using CEREC technology. This allows us to provide you with a successful crown procedure while removing the waiting around that’s typically involved.

What Are the Benefits of CEREC Crowns?

When you compare CEREC crowns to standard methods, there are multiple benefits. With CEREC, here’s what you gain:

  • More free time
  • Better looking crowns
  • More durability

Let’s look at each one in more detail so you can see why choosing CEREC crowns could be right for you.

More Free Time

Imagine attending your dentists for your procedure and being in and out in just one day. That’s what you get with CEREC crowns!

One of the top benefits that CEREC treatment offers is that it allows you more free time. When you don’t have to return for multiple visits for the same treatment, it’s much easier to plan your days.

Is your work schedule busy, or have you got meetings planned with friends? No problem! Choose CEREC for your crown fitting and you won’t need to rearrange.

Better Looking Crowns

CEREC crowns look so real that loved ones and friends won’t even notice any difference.

Oftentimes, crowns are placed with a metal structure added that can be a straight giveaway that you’ve had some dental treatment. Not when choosing CEREC though! Instead, you’re left with a crown that blends in so well it’s almost invisible to the eye.

More Durability

A CEREC machine helps to provide you with a crown that’s:

  • Reliably secured in place
  • Strong to withstand damage
  • Able to last long-term

When you follow good dental care practices in addition to having CEREC crowns that are strong-holding, you can expect them to remain intact for years to come. That way, you can prevent further trips back to your dentist for unnecessary follow-ups that you shouldn’t need.

At TLC Dental, we aim to provide you with top-quality treatment and the right tools to take with you. On top of treatment, we seek to educate our patients so that good dental care remains.

What’s Involved in CEREC Crown Procedure?

To perform the CEREC procedure successfully, your dentist must follow these steps:

  • First, the crown’s filed to ensure that it fits the shape of your mouth
  • Digital photos are then taken by your CEREC dentist, focusing on the region near your tooth that requires a crown
  • To make your crown, either computer-aided or manufacturing-aided design is used to take digital photos of your teeth
  • Using the photos, your porcelain-made CEREC crown is created via 3D milling techniques, taking around 15 minutes
  • The crown is moulded, finished, and then added to your teeth to give you the perfect-looking smile

Who Are CEREC Crowns For?

Fitting crowns with a CEREC machine is generally helpful if you’re suffering from damaged, worn, or discoloured teeth. However, the best way to find out if you’re a candidate is to consult with your dentist where you can cover all the details.

We talk our patients through the process to help them discover if CEREC treatment is suitable. If a dental crown isn’t for you, we’ll carry out a thorough evaluation to ensure we offer you the treatment for your needs.

If we find that you’re not a candidate for CEREC treatment but you still need a crown, we’ll make an initial appointment where we’ll shape a model of your tooth. After we take the model, we transfer it to the lab and develop your crown. We’ll then follow up with a second meeting for your fitting.
