Cavities and White Fillings
What comes to mind when someone mentions Fillings? Large chunks of a silver-looking material dulling your pearly white? It’s time to wipe that image away!
Thanks to advancements in dentistry, metal fillings are no longer your only option. In fact, they are practically obsolete when compared to natural tooth-coloured composite fillings. These tooth-coloured fillings match the natural shade of enamel for a subtle yet effective cavity repair.
Tooth-coloured fillings are crafted to blend with your natural smile, and they don’t require extra care. You will simply need to maintain a traditional oral hygiene routine involving good old brushing, flossing, and mouthwash.
For those patients with older metal fillings, the team at TLC Dental can replace older fillings with newer, tooth-coloured fillings.
Porcelain Veneers
A veneer is an excellent long term natural-looking solution that can:
- Restore a broken, chipped, misshaped, or crooked tooth;
- Restore unsightly, stained, or washed-out fillings;
- Close space between the teeth (diastema);
- Cover a permanently stained or discoloured tooth;
- Straighten your smile (instant orthodontics).
Veneers can be made out of two types of materials: composite (white filling) or porcelain.
At TLC Dental, Dr. Hoffenberg is able to produce high-quality aesthetic results that look beautiful and very natural using both types of material, because he spends so much of his time producing beautiful smiles for his patients and is so passionate about it. It can be said that it is one of his areas of expertise.
Both composite and porcelain veneers have advantages and disadvantages. After examining your mouth and discussing your needs and wants, Dr. Hoffenberg will spend time explaining both options to you, so you will be in the best position to make a decision as to which option will be best for you.
Crowns and Bridges
Whether you’re struggling with gaps between your pearly whites, teeth that don’t look quite as straight as you’d hoped, or a lost, cracked, or damaged tooth, a crown or bridge may help you restore your smile to one you’ll be proud to show off.
Crowns and bridges are common cosmetic treatments that protect vulnerable teeth and provide a bright, symmetrical smile that will boost your confidence and have you wishing you’d made an appointment with TLC Dental sooner.
A crown is a protective shell for a compromised tooth, designed to look like the natural one you were born with. It can cover chips and cracks, uneven wear, and other dental or cosmetic issues. Crowns can even be created to cover a gap between your teeth if your natural teeth are narrow or spaced apart.
A bridge is similar to a crown but designed to help stabilize your smile if you’ve experienced the loss of one or more of your teeth. A dental bridge involves placing a cap over one or two teeth beside a gap, attached to a false tooth to cover the open space. This strategy can help brace your smile and retain proper alignment.
Teeth Whitening
Your smile is a part of you. It’s the first impression others will have when first placing eyes upon your face. Your expression. It fills your photos and videos with joyous memories of times past.
And it shouldn’t be hiding behind pursed lips. It shouldn’t cause you to avoid cameras.
People are naturally attracted to brilliant, engaging smiles. At TLC Dental, we understand just how difficult those sparkling teeth can be to keep sparkling white.
The good news? We can help.
Our licensed dentist and experienced staff are well-practiced in teeth whitening to create gleaming smiles. When you visit our office, you’ll see first-hand just how calming a warm smile can be. You can relax in our warm, welcoming atmosphere while we help you attain the confidence that comes with a brilliant smile.
Dental Implants
When you lose a tooth, apart from being a traumatic experience, it can cause an unattractive gap between your teeth that can (over time) lead to other dental issues.
Tooth loss can happen at any time, at any age. From a wrestling accident with your kids or grandkids to scoring a goal for your hockey team, or even when tripping while running up the stairs. Tooth loss can also occur from gum, tooth or bone infections and disease.
To understand what a dental implant is, you first have to understand a little bit about how a tooth works. Read on below to learn more.
The Crown
The crown represents the part of your teeth that you see when you smile. This is the layer of your tooth that makes up the pearly white cover of your teeth, otherwise known as the “crown” of the tooth.
The Root
Below your gums, each tooth has a “root” that extends into your jaw. The root anchors the tooth in your gums and carries nutrients from the rest of your body to your tooth. When you lose a tooth, you also lose the root, and the jawbone where your root once existed starts to deteriorate.
The Implant And New Root
To place a synthetic tooth in the new gap in your smile, then, we have to start by giving the new tooth its own root – an implant. Dental implants are posts made of titanium that functions much as a tooth root would.
Creating a new root also helps stabilize your jaw and prevent bone loss. After the root is placed, an artificial tooth (to replace the “crown” part of your tooth) is created to complete the treatment. You can talk with your dentist about the types of artificial teeth available to place over your implant and complete your smile.
Clear Aligners
A brilliant smile makes a good first impression. Unfortunately, some smiles need a little more help than others to replicate that Hollywood perfect smile you deserve. Whether you face misalignment from poor jaw development, missing teeth, or crowding due to wisdom tooth eruption, TLC Dental in Sydney can help you realign those pearly whites for the perfect smile.
Self-Conscious about your Smile?
Many people feel self-conscious when it comes to their smiles; imperfections like crooked teeth, gaps, or alignment issues can exacerbate these feelings.
But aesthetics aren’t the only reason to want a straightened smile. Well-aligned teeth are happier teeth, and this leads to a healthier mouth. Crooked teeth lead to crevices and hiding places for debris and bacteria, leading to cavities, gum disease, and potentially tooth loss. Proper alignment can also alleviate jaw and gum issues.

History Of Sydney
Sydney ( (listen) SID-nee; Dharug: Gadi; Greater Sydney, Dharug: Eora) is the capital city of the state of New South Wales, and the most populous city in Australia and Oceania. Located on Australia’s east coast, the metropolis surrounds Port Jackson and extends about 70 km (43.5 mi) on its periphery towards the Blue Mountains to the west, Hawkesbury to the north, the Royal National Park to the south and Macarthur to the south-west. Sydney is made up of 658 suburbs, spread across 33 local government areas. Residents of the city are known as “Sydneysiders”. As of June 2020, Sydney’s estimated metropolitan population was 5,367,206, meaning the city is home to approximately 66% of the state’s population. The city has had several nicknames throughout its history, such as the ‘Emerald City’ and the ‘Harbour City’.Indigenous Australians have inhabited the Sydney area for at least 30,000 years, and thousands of engravings remain throughout the region, making it one of the richest in Australia in terms of Aboriginal archaeological sites. Around 29 clan groups of the Eora Nation inhabited the region at the time of European contact. During his first Pacific voyage in 1770, Lieutenant James Cook and his crew became the first Europeans to chart the eastern coast of Australia, making landfall at Botany Bay and inspiring British interest in the area. In 1788, the First Fleet of convicts, led by Arthur Phillip, founded Sydney as a British penal colony, the first European settlement in Australia. Phillip named the settlement after Thomas Townshend, 1st Viscount Sydney. Penal transportation to New South Wales ended soon after Sydney was incorporated as a city in 1842. A gold rush occurred in the colony in 1851, and over the next century, Sydney transformed from a colonial outpost into a major global cultural and economic centre. After World War II, it experienced mass migration and became one of the most multicultural cities in the world. At the time of the 2011 census, more than 250 different languages were spoken in Sydney. In the 2016 Census, about 35.8% of residents spoke a language other than English at home. Furthermore, 45.4% of the population reported having been born overseas, and the city has the third-largest foreign-born population of any city in the world after London and New York City. Between 1971 and 2018, Sydney lost a net number of 716,832 people to the rest of Australia but its population has continued to grow, largely due to immigration. Despite being one of the most expensive cities in the world, Sydney frequently ranks in the top ten most liveable cities in the world. It is classified as an Alpha Global City by Globalization and World Cities Research Network, indicating its influence in the region and throughout the world. Ranked eleventh in the world for economic opportunity, Sydney has an advanced market economy with strengths in finance, manufacturing and tourism. There is a significant concentration of foreign banks and multinational corporations in Sydney and the city is promoted as Australia’s financial capital and one of Asia Pacific’s leading financial hubs. Established in 1850, the University of Sydney was Australia’s first university and is regarded as one of the world’s leading universities. Sydney is also home to the oldest library in Australia, the State Library of New South Wales, which opened in 1826. Sydney has hosted major international sporting events such as the 2000 Summer Olympics. The city is among the top fifteen most-visited cities in the world, with millions of tourists coming each year to see the city’s landmarks. Boasting over 1,000,000 ha (2,500,000 acres) of nature reserves and parks, its notable natural features include Sydney Harbour, the Royal National Park, Royal Botanic Garden and Hyde Park, the oldest parkland in the country. Built attractions such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the World Heritage-listed Sydney Opera House are also well known to international visitors. The main passenger airport serving the metropolitan area is Kingsford-Smith Airport, one of the world’s oldest continually operating airports. Established in 1906, Central station, the largest and busiest railway station in the state, is the main hub of the city’s rail network.
